Community Healthcare Center held its grand opening, ribbon cutting and dedication this morning for Community Healthcare Center at Zundy. The first community school-based health center is dedicated to Ralph O. Harvey III. Mr. Harvey has been an integral part of the federally qualified health center in north Texas since the beginning. Ralph Harvey, Ray Clymer, and Bob Gunn spearheaded the fundraising campaign in the early 90s to bring a health center to Wichita Falls, which was named Community Healthcare Center.
In 2019, Community Healthcare Center’s Chief Executive Officer, Allen Patterson, brought an idea to their board of directors to bring a school-based community health center to this area. The idea was then taken to Mr. Michael Kuhrt, WFISD Superintendent of Schools, and the WFISD School Board who approved the measure and donated the land to build the new clinic. Then, the campaign fundraising was then put into motion by Mr. Harvey who raised the entire amount to bring this health center site into reality. “His dedication to the health center and its success has been a blessing to our patients and our community since the beginning,” stated Allen Patterson.
The school-based community health center now houses two healthcare providers seeing patients Monday through Friday with seven support staff members. “The clinic is beautiful, and the patients love it,” stated April Williams, a Community Healthcare Center at Zundy Family Nurse Practitioner.
